Rick Cook's Lotus Seven
|
I heard Rick Cook's
hometown mentioned one year at Waterford Hills... It turns out he
lives less than an hour away, so I have had the chance to visit
a couple of times. I have also made an effort to see some of
his races, my photos of which appear below. The rainy day pics
were taken the day my son and I drove our Seven to Grattan in
August 2001. That story appears in the 'Stories'
section of this web site.
Grattan Raceway, Michigan -- September 2002 Mid Ohio Sorts Car Course -- October 2004 After driving through the rain most of the way to Mid Ohio this year, I watched as Rick struggled with his shift lever. Once he got back out on track, he realized his diff wasn't sounding too good. He came in and said he was ready to be done for the weekend. Over dinner, Rick explained that he knew there was another guy at the track who had a replacement diff available, but he said he didn't feel like changing it out in the rain. With my enthusiasm, I convinced him that we could do the job in his trailer, and that I would do all the under-car work. So I did it and Rick went on to run on Sunday... more rain, so few photos!
