Previous owner's description at time of sale:

I found SB 1099 through an ad in Hemmings in 1998. After purchase and giving the family a short ride in front of the house it was totally disassembled for restoration. The car, as we found it, was outside under a plum tree with the cockpit full of water so it was in pretty bad shape.

After sandblasting, replacing a few pieces at the bottom of the cockpit and adding longitudinal members for the tunnel and trans mount, the frame was powder coated. All the suspension bits and rear axle housing got the same treatment.

I used all the old panels for patterns and re-skinned the entire car. The only original pieces being retained are the trans tunnel and cowl. Next the tub was painted BRG, covered up and sat from Spring 2001 to Fall 2006. In the mean time I finished a 16 year remodel of the house, three years of landscaping and bought SB 1442 to race. I started back on 1099 in Fall of 2006, at which point I didn't like how the paint was adhering so I took it back down and redid it in the original red using Dupont Chroma Color/Chroma Clear.

A 1380 BMC street motor has now been installed (I have the original 948) along with fresh upholstery upholstery. The car has been up and running since 2008.
