I started going through my records with some trepidation. As I got into it the memories of taking this apart and putting it back together came back. I have met a lot of people and made a lot of contacts. The best part of the project was that Lotus people as a whole are enthusiastic to the machines of C. Chapman and have been a fantastic help. There is no way I am going to add up all the money spent but it was well worth it.

Dave Bean, Redline, Supersprint, Sevens & Elans ­ all have helped with the parts and people like Gary David and Mike Ostrov have helped with their knowledge.

The car was purchased by Mr. Western of Jim Russell Racing Drivers, Downham Market Norfolk UK. Ex works 21 Feb 1962. No engine number ­ body by Lotus. Engine mounts for Ford 105E and 109E.

Big gap in where it went after that ­ it surfaced in Brussels Belgium in the mid seventies and was purchased by Robert Feist. Imported into the States 10 Aug. 1975. Blue and Yellow with a Ford 105E6015. It sustained $440 in damage coming over ­ oil pan, rear axle, front springs, top & doors and electrics. I figure that the mechanical parts were due to tying it down too tight but cannot figure out the top & electrics.

Sold in 1974 to Charles Terhune in Cincinnati Ohio and I purchased it in 10 August 1975. I had a high school friend look at it before I bought it ­ not a very good idea as he is a Porsche man and in retrospect I should have had a Lotus person look at it.

I had it shipped to San Diego and upon first sight my neighbor was happy to see that I bought a dune buggy. Rolled it into the garage and noticed that the rear body was able to shift back and forth with a loud clunk. A frame bushings were gone. As the inspection continued the realization that driving it around for a while was not a viable option.

Stripped it to the frame (front clip had to be replaced due to some past incident). Wore out a Sears drill and I do not know how many bits drilling out all the rivets.

Bought a front clip from Arch Motors/Caterham. This was grafted on; frame was repaired, reinforced and reskinned by the late Tom Beauchamp. A true old school panel beater and a great guy.

Painted in Vista California and assembled in my garage by myself and a good mechanic and buddy of mine, Dave Young.

We had a real thrash to try to get it on the road for the Lotus meet at Laguna Seca in 1995. Did run but an electrical fire in the rear 2 days before the event stopped that idea. Rather than have a trailer queen, left it home and got it running after the event. It has been much fun getting it out ­ can't stand it on the freeways though.
