<56887@msn.com> I purchased the car in 1985 from Mike Tangney who purchased it obviously used from Caterham Sales in 1979. Has a MOT book in rough form from 1971 and was probably off road for a good part of it's life prior to 1971. The MOT, sales slip, and documents for authenticity all came with the car. I started racing it in 1989 in vintage events. ![]() The car has JAP adapter bellhousing to put an early Ford 4-speed behind the 100E engine. Twin HS2 SU's 4 to 1 exhaust manifold, carillo rods, venolia pistons, Elgin designed camshaft, currently 9.56 to 1 compression ratio (has been as high as 10.71 to 1), ultra close ratios in the transmission, JAP wire wheel adapters were removed and replaced for a more conventional system (still have the originals), oil system is full flow filtering and cooling (TR3 oil pump), 4.55 diff in the Metropolitan rear end, original horn and light still work. New nose by Fairman and Sons installed by John Buddenbaum who dialed in the car in 1994 and it's a joy to drive. A little slow in a straight line but 2:08's at Laguna Seca, 2:18's at Sears Point, 2:28's at Thunderhill and Button Willow. Not to bad for a 100E. I've been in the middle of solid axle Corvettes preparing for the Historics this year. |
