October, 2001 Update:
I have put about 1500 miles on the Seven this past year and enjoyed
every mile. Even though I have three other Lotus cars to drive,
this is the one I choose for an hour of rejuvenation. As you
look at the picture from the cockpit, you can see why. Here's
a new picture, taken by my fearless son while following me on
a tour. Boy, do I have him to thank but I still chewed him out
for taking this while going 48MPH (got the evidence) on a mountain
road.
Initial Entry, Fall 2000:
I am the new owner of a 1968 Seven Series 3 #SB2352, which I
purchased in August from a fellow in the Seattle area. I was
racing my vintage Elan S2 at the Northwest Historics this past
July and saw the car at the Lotus Corral in the paddock between
races. While I have wanted a Seven to add to my Elan and Type
14 Elite, I wasn't quite ready to act. About a month later I
got a phone call ... and, as they say, the rest is history.
However, I still had to collect
the car and get it to Denver. So, over the Labor Day weekend,
I flew to Seattle, picked up the car and drove 1350 miles home.
What a trip!!! The car ran pretty well, with only a few scares
and I saw some of the prettiest parts of this country as well
as driving some spectacular roads (US Highway 12 across Idaho,
for example). I just found the se7ens site and came across your
post, hence this missive. I'm glad to be aboard.
