Reluctantly offered for sale, 1960 Porsche 356 BT5 1600 Super #110160.
If you’re looking for a concours show car, this is not it. It is, however, an excellent driver with a strong engine and transmission that runs great and still turns heads after 50 years. Lots of documentation with extremely detailed documentation from 1991 to present.

Hoffman Motors in New York originally imported this car on December 29, 1959. Unlike many older Porsches offered for sale, this one still has its original motor and yes, it’s a 1600 Super (see authenticity certificate at bottom of page). The transmission, although strong and smooth, is newer and I’m not sure when it was replaced. The car spent most of its life down south. I have a partial list of previous owners, have actually spoken to a few and gathered the following...

The car was restored between 1976 and 1978 including new floor pans from PB Tweeks, new paint and interior. After that, there were four other owners prior to myself. The second owner acquired the car with 63,666 miles on the clock and lovingly cared for it between 1991 and 2003. This owner was a meticulous Porsche fan, the car was well maintained and very detailed records were kept. The girl who purchased the car next was accepted to law school in California but just prior to her departure the car suffered a carburetor fire and the car ended up at an import auto dealership in Ohio. The owner's son took a liking to the car and kept it for himself, going through it again including color change to black, sound deadening kit and mechanical details.

I stumbled across the car, which was not listed for sale, in 2007 when I was in Ohio taking a look at a 1963 BT6. The odometer now shows just less than 79k miles. Since buying the car, I’ve had the brakes done, new oil pan & valve cover gaskets, carbs professionally rebuilt, new battery, new electronic blinker module, wheels painted and all gauges and original fuel sender refurbished by Palo Alto Speedometer in California.

Tune-up in April 2010 included: new cap, rotor, points and condenser, Bosch platinum plus plugs, the timing was set and carbs were adjusted and balanced. There are some minor paint blemishes to contend with and the car at this time needs the following: sun visors, jack, window washer andhorn parts. Other than that, she’s good to go. Included are a custom car cover from Pelican Parts and assorted spare parts from Stoddard including 2 brand new heater valves, a link pin set and a king pin set.
Please call or email me if you have additional questions or concerns.

Thanks, Joe
