The car is accepted by both CSRG and
HMSA and has run a few times in both organizations.
Its road-registered in California and comes with the road windscreen
and original mirror in addition to the Brooklands screen and
mirrors as shown.
The car comes with a trailer, some minimal spares: springs, front
wings, ring & pinion, and two additional sets of wheels -
American Racing Silverstones and Western Wheel minilite repros).
Asking price is $25K.
This car was assembled at the
factory and shipped to a Mr. H Brasswell in Memphis, TN in early
1963. The car was originally yellow with bare aluminum.
During the early 70s it was raced
in the Michigan SCCA region by Fred and Marjorie Carpenter. Not
much is known about the intervening history until the early 90s
when it made its way to Oaklahoma where it was
occasionally autocrossed.
I purchased the car in October
of 1998 and began a rolling refurbishment. The car is currently
prepared as an entry-level vintage racer. That means its got
a roll bar, fuel cell and widely-accepted tires and other safety
stuff, but the engine is still relatively mild. There's still
plenty of speed to be found in the driver....
Any pictures or info about the
car from those of you who might have raced with Mr Brasswell
or Mr Carpenter would be appreciated.
