the first road race event to be conducted at California Speedway ( 2001).

This shot is from Road Atlanta mid-90's. One could surmise that the field was about to lap me. Actually, I qualified and started well. Atlanta was a good track for me. The car is very original and 1500 powered.

SB 1780 was originally sold to Capt. Calvin Russell, 17th T.R.S., ex works July 18, 1964. The original colour was green/white stripe. It was fitted with a Cosworth Ford 1500 with two 40 DCOE's (one still with car according to registered serial number), a Ford GT gearbox and 4:11 diff. Notes from the factory records indicate it was ordered with a tonneau cover, oil cooler, oil temp gauge and "Skeeter IV" on the bonnet. Does anyone know where Capt. Russell is today?

In 1968, the car was registered to Doctor R. P. Buedingen in Beaufort, SC. I purchased the car from Jim Mueller in 1988. When Jim purchased the car in @ 1984, it was still painted green and had spent a lifetime as a club racer on the east coast. She was a pretty tired looking example. Jim painstakingly restored the car to "factory new" condition, save the guards red finish. When I purchased the car, we uprated it to run autocross events and beginning in late 1988, vintage racing.

In 1988, the car scored a win in the SCCA Mid-Div solo championship and a 3rd in AP at the SCCA solo Nationals in Salina Kansas despite, it's mostly vintage preparation. Since that time, the car has frequented vintage events at a variety of tracks including Road Atlanta, Blackhawk Farms, Mid-Ohio, Road America, Heartland Park, California Speedway, Laguna Seca, Willow Springs and a few others.

Today, the car remains in period authentic vintage specification. While no longer street driven, only minor tuning adjustments would be necessary and will likely be done to enjoy the roads in our new Sierra foothills location. As anyone lurking here would know, 7s are a hoot on both road and track. Just think what some young Honda-rod driver would think getting blown away by this British 4 cylinder "antique". Makes one smile!

If anyone knows of this car from period or it's early owners, please let me know.
