Be advised that the vehicle has lately developed a habit of overheating, and I suspect from compression tests that the head gasket is degrading between cyls 3 & 4 (this being said without guarantee or any assurance that it is not a larger problem).

I've listed it for $25,000, but will consider reasonable offers and would be OK with shaving that starting figure by a bit to accommodate an estimated cost of repairs (unless I go ahead and replace the gasket myself). It's been quite a nice little car, aside from this recent development.

Previous Owner history BELIEVED CORRECT BUT PRESENTED STRICTLY WITHOUT GUARANTEE OF ANY NATURE WHATSOEVER:

  • 1963: bought as a component car from Lotus (or dealer), built by a private party (presumed first owner) in the UK.
  • The components left the factory on 19-Aug, 1963.
  • 1-2 years later, shipped to the US (to 2nd owner-?)
  • 1-5 years later (mid-late 60's -?), raced in the US, retired to a barn in northern New Jersey in 1967.
  • 1980-84 resurrected by next owner as a street vehicle after major engine work, frame and body repair.
  • Nov 1985 sold to next owner, 24,822 miles.  Various repairs/upgrades, Replaced Cam in 1988
  • 1993 sold to current owner (probably the 6th, if I am correctly interpreting the coding on the registration certificate issued at that time).
