1962 Seven SII SB1626
Cosworth 1500 pre-crossflow
Ontario, Canada

As a racer it is an extremely forgiving car and due to H.P. is very easily throttle steered (it loves the tail hung out). It is not your usual historic Lotus 7 racecar, other than safety items like fuel cell, beefed up roll bar, modern rad, it is 'period correct' NO rod ends, electronic ign., limited slip or any of the other crap they seem to add to historic racing 7's these days. A complete riot to drive and capable of lap times that would rival some historic FF's.

Photo shows its brother (sister?) & stablemate a '69 Merlyn FF.

I have never found the frame# and am reticent to scrape the paint to find it. Tag is SB-1626 and since I've met or spoken to all (6) owners but one, I know the car is genuine. It arrived with the original owner in Canada around '64. It was a combination road/race car in merry old. Once here it became a race car full time and has been around southern Ontario ever since.

Quite a few years ago it was converted to S 7 specs. pre-crossflow Cosworth 1500, disc brakes. I added dry sump and steel crank after destroying an engine at Waterford in '97. It will get out to play 3 or 4 times each year to extend its life.

This may be a bit 'Twilight Zone'. The attached news photo (at left) is my currently owned 7 in 1970 being passed by me in my Austin Cooper S at Mosport Park. This photo was recently supplied to me by one of the former owners. How's that for coincedence?

Waterford Hills/Meadowbrook Historic Races 2001: "Kicked Porsche 356 Butt, first overall on Sunday all the Stuttgarters were crying in their Meisterbrew. !!!!"

(looks like Rick Cook in the other yellow Seven at the right edge of the center photo!)
