SB1182 was bought
from Lotus, in Cheshunt, in kit form for £499 on March
29th 1961, by Mr. Geoff Coles, (my wife's father). After a busy
summer, spent both building the car, and on the road back and
forth to Cheshunt, ironing out problems with the build and picking
up parts to complete the build, 40 UPE was finally on the road. |
Geoff was a schoolteacher at
Ewell Castle in Surrey, and as well driving the car to work and
back, 40 UPE was to find itself clocking up the miles around
Europe in the summer holidays.
