A Lotus Seven appeared for auction on
'ebay.' The usual fans of the original Lotus Seven all took note,
and settled in to watch what value it might reach while some
even threw in a bid or two...
Before long, a message appeared
on the email list most often frequented by those interested in
original Lotus Sevens...
Whoa ! I'd be careful
with SB2116 on ebay. I bought my 1966 SB2116 in England in 1969
and I still have it !! I've been procrastinating sending my info
to jww [Lotus Seven Registrar]. I've been meaning to get copies
of my photos made but haven't yet. I emailed the seller. Found
my New Jersey title (last place on the road) issued October 20,
1976. - John,

Original Lotus Sevens are simple
and rare enough cars, and there are enough 'close copies' of
them around that an unscrupulos seller may be tempted to pass
one off as an original Lotus Seven. Sometimes it takes a very
close look to determine the originality of the car.
This one however, is a story
with a better ending than it might have been.
