SB1590 Ireland

Picture attached of my seven, it is in a very sorry state and requires a
complete rebuild onto a new chassis, should keep me busy for a while!

I have already stripped the car to its component parts and am assessing what parts need replacing and those that can be re-used. I'm afraid I can't give you a Chassis number or frame number yet as both are missing from the car, the chassis plate because the aluminium panel it would have been mounted to is missing, and the frame number because the whole area around which it was stamped has been modified! I have some documents with the car which reference a chassis number but I'm going to investigate further before I commit to publishing a number here.

As for the cars racing history I don't have any, but judging by the work done to the car it was strictly amateur stuff! So My plan is to restore it to as near to original as I can without going overboard, it is after all a car to be enjoyed not a museum piece!

I've attached a couple of pictures of the chassis to show how it was modified, I'm glad it came with a spare chassis in much better condition! Note the front suspension mounting points, the engine is moved backwards and offset, the scuttle has been lowered, the steering column lowered, etc, etc!

I actually got the registration document from the DVLA in the post today. It appears that the chassis number is SB1590 and that the car was first registered on 28th Nov 1962.

My restoration (SB1590) is a chassis up job and as such I'm not too concerned about absolute originality with that in mind I decided to add in a few extra tubes that will be mostly hidden away once the car is complete. I also had to remove some that had been badly replaced in the past (those sections marked with crosses in the first picture.)

Before: After:

Wheel carrier was completely missing for some reason:

Extra pieces along the tunnel and across the rear seat, I also took the opportunity to add seatbelt mountings and mounts for a roll hoop should I need them in the future.
