| Gary Hewitt According to JWW the car was first sold to a chap that lived about 6 miles down the road from him at Coptall Lane, Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, UK. The next owner that I know of was an American who bought the car in summer of 1971. He brought it back to California in 75 and sold it. So two more owners and 35 years later I get my shot at a 62 super seven. Here are some shots of trial fittings, it was all the way down when I got it. In boxes until recently starting to pull together. Found the frame # and it checks out with JWW's list, still has the chassis plate and the original weber carbs and linkage. what appears to be the original Cosworth valve cover. Wrong trans and an ital axel. I bought the car from "red" Geesaman's widow. she says they bought the first lotus 7 imported into the states and raced it around the west coast. This is not that car but it could be that he was the first retail buyer of a seven. Photos of some of the California custom details found on 1423, the dual circuit brake and Lemans gas cap will stay for now, the original gas tank is fitted with a gas gauge sender and the ac gauges were replaced with smiths gas and a dual oil/water gauge. I have rectified that situation. the caterham axle I would like to replace. |
